INDONESIA STORY 3 (edited this a little, after receiving more clarification from Pastor Tandi)
One of Pastor Tandi’s Bible college students became upset with him because Pastor Tandi had to discipline him. Nearly all of these Bible college students at the small school in Manokwari are from different tribes throughout the island of Papua. This man was very angry for being disciplined. At night he brought a small angry mob with him to Pastor Tandi’s house. They were outside yelling and making commotion. Pastor Tandi invited the man inside along with some of the men with him. Pastor Tandi then noticed that one of the men beside his college student was a known killer in the community. Pastor Tandi’s best English word to describe him is, “assassin,” or killer for hire. The man is somewhat of a hermit that the authorities had not been able to arrest and he is greatly feared in the community. Pastor Tandi had all the men sit down to talk. After only sitting for a few moments, the known killer jumped up from his seat and ran out of the house. After he ran off, the mob soon dispersed.
A few days later, the known killer sent his nephew to Pastor Tandi. The nephew then shared with Pastor Tandi that when the mob had come into his house, his uncle (the killer) had seen Pastor Tandi’s face glowing brightly. It scared him and so he ran out of the house and he became upset at the men who had brought him there. The nephew told Pastor Tandi that his uncle wanted to repent and learn about Jesus. The nephew told Pastor Tandi his uncle had sent him to invite him to his home to share the Gospel. Pastor Tandi told the nephew that he would come, but first he needed to pray and fast for one week.
After the week of prayer and fasting, Pastor Tandi felt ready to go visit this man (the killer). When he visited, Pastor Tandi then taught him the Gospel. After listening, the man wanted to be saved! Pastor Tandi led him in prayers of repentance and accepting Christ. Then he told the man that he must dispose of all his black magic. The man told Pastor Tandi he needed help in this. The man led Pastor Tandi outside the town to where he kept his equipment. A crowd began to gather and follow at a distance, mostly out of curiousity. As they walked into the forest the man showed Pastor Tandi a bag hanging from a tree that was filled with his black magic amulets, potions, and other satanic stuff. Pastor Tandi had the man take it down from the tree. The man was very afraid and wanted Pastor Tandi to take care of everything. Pastor Tandi was adamant that it needed to be the man who would dispose of these things by burning them himself. But to show there was nothing to fear, Pastor Tandi stooped down to touch the objects. As he was about to do this, the crowd which was standing at a distance began to yell in objection. “No Pastor! You will die! Do not touch those things! Get away from them Pastor!!!” Pastor Tandi ignored them and touched all the objects and spread them out on the ground. Then he had the man set them all on fire, burning them up into nothing. So the man was free from the bondage of his black magic.
The next day some members of the crowd came to Pastor Tandi. They told him that they are all certain that he will die for what he did the previous day. Pastor Tandi challenged them and said if he is still alive in two weeks, they must believe that Jesus is God over all. Pastor Tandi also told them that if he were to die that they should not believe in Jesus and that they should then close the Bible college. Time passed and Pastor Tandi remained healthy, as he still is today. He proved that Christ is greater than any black magic or possession of satan. Praise God!
Yet still, these people would not believe. Their fear of black magic and spiritism along with a lack of faith is keeping them from truly believing in God.
Please pray against the strongholds of fear and lack of faith in Indonesia.
