Month: October 2006

  • Wow, its hard to believe this trip is already over.  The past few weeks have been a blur of blessings… seeing friends, visiting fellowships, intense times of prayer, fun games with the family, and a whole lot of American food.  Its been great!  I gotta praise God for all of it.    I’m ready to go back though.  I miss the kids.  And its time for the next phase… really learning Korean, building the orphanage ministry, and preparing for the future.  I’m excited!

Here are some pics of my past week… including seeing different relatives, visiting Tech for an awesome win over Clemson (thanks again for the ticket Paul!), and visiting JMU and speaking at ACF.  My mom joked that its hard to tell whether I’m still in Korea or not, since nearly all my friends are Asian.  Funny mother.  Enjoy the pics!

Now time for some chicken soup with my parents.  Then a little rest and I’m flying home to the orphanage.  Please pray for my health, I’m worn out and getting a little sick.  I had an awesome trip and I’m thankful for every moment I had with friends and family.  I’m not sure when I’ll be back for another visit, but it will likely be a long while.  So come out and visit me, okay?  God bless you all!

This past week I spent some blessed time at Virginia Tech and then traveled and stayed with my sister and bro-in-law in their small town of Low Moor.  Both these visits were full of prayer, fellowship, and food.  Praise God!  Here are a few pictures, all except the last were taken my last day at Tech… and if you ever see white people in my xanga posts, odds are they are family.

With Kat… not pictured was some of the bubble tea she had made for Hong and me… thanks Kat!

  • I’m in Northern Virginia now.  This past weekend I went with my family to our cabin in Pennsylvania, we just got back home a couple hours ago.  This Tuesday I’ll be driving down to Virginia Tech.  I feel like I’m in another world right now.  Going from living with 82 kids, eating my meals (Korean food) with them, speaking Korean… and now back with my family and my old life… its strange.  Another world.  I’ve been sleeping a lot, but my time has been good so far.  I’m looking forward to seeing my Virginia Tech family.

If you are planning to attend ICF when I speak at George Mason University on October 19th, please e-mail Kon Yi [wwjd703@gmail.com] and let him know you will be coming.  There is a shuttle service for people without GMU parking decals, it will be at 7pm at the McDonalds at University Mall on Braddock Road.  The fellowship meets in Student Union Building II (SUBII) meeting room 5, 6, and 7.  Here are directions… http://www.gmu.edu/welcome/Directions-to-GMU.html

Again, my cell phone is 703-930-3907.  My speaking schedule is below (on my last post).  God bless you all!

  • During my Indonesia trip we traveled to Manokwari on the island of Papua (half of it being Papua New Guinea). Most of the people on the island come from tribes scattered among the jungles and mountains. My church is one of the main sponsors of the Bible college we visited. They were very happy when we arrived. The welcome was totally unexpected…

    The “Tribal Happy Dance.”

Here is a picture of our keyboardist for the welcoming service at the Bible college

    IMGP2729

Here is a picture of the team (Pastor Tandi is on the left, darker skinned with glasses), the guy on my right is a Bible college student

    IMG_3879

I’d post more pictures, but I’m really tired.  The people doing the “tribal happy dance” were alumni from the Bible college.  They don’t normally dress like that, they just dressed up for the occasion.  For such formal occasions, we wear tuxedos.  They wear body paint.  Good times

Please read the stories below if you haven’t yet.
