During my Indonesia trip we traveled to Manokwari on the island of Papua (half of it being Papua New Guinea). Most of the people on the island come from tribes scattered among the jungles and mountains. My church is one of the main sponsors of the Bible college we visited. They were very happy when we arrived. The welcome was totally unexpected...

I'd post more pictures, but I'm really tired. The people doing the "tribal happy dance" were alumni from the Bible college. They don't normally dress like that, they just dressed up for the occasion. For such formal occasions, we wear tuxedos. They wear body paint. Good times

yeah... they were ferociously happy. i didn't know if we should have felt welcomed or concerned at first when they surprised us and poured out into the street with their spears and sticks....
