  • Forget About It

This past Sunday while my pastor was preaching on the Cross, my mind began to remember past sins… those bad memories that I just want to be freed of.  I know God has forgiven me for my past.  He promises this in Jeremiah 31:34 – “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”  But I hated how sometimes these memories would come back in my mind.  I didn’t know how to handle them.  As I was asking God for help, He reminded me of a verse in Isaiah that my pastor had spoken on recently…

Isaiah 43:18-19a – “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!”

Just forget about the past junk.  Don’t dwell on it.  Let it go.  Keep my eyes on the Lord and what He is doing and all that stuff will fade away.  God has better stuff coming.

It was a simple revelation, but a really encouraging one for me.  Now when Satan tries to get me to dwell on the past, that verse immediately comes to my mind and I’m able to focus on the Lord.  Satan can try to distract, but he can’t force your attention.  We just have to keep our eyes on Jesus.  Praise God for His grace.
