Jerusalem Ministry Soccer Camp 2009
This year Jerusalem Ministry held our 2nd summer 3-day soccer camp for boys from different children's home around Seoul. In total, we had about 45 boys come out, including a small group of boys from a local community welfare center. Our volunteers were from five different churches around Seoul and did a stellar job motivating, encouraging, and teaching the kids. As expected with most events for kids from children homes, the first day was the toughest and some of the boys had poor attitudes or lacked confidence... but as the camp progressed the frowns and complaining quickly turned to big smiles and encouragement. Enjoy the pictures... I have a ton of them but could only choose "a few." I will add pictures from our pool time later and hopefully also add video footage. The camp was a blast! I am headed off to Myanmar this Saturday for missions and will return August 2. Please keep me in your prayers. Enjoy the pics!
Prayer time during the camp (starting the camp, before meals, and at the end of the day)

Lunch time... this day we had hot dogs with an amazing variety of toppings
Another lunch time... this day was pizza and cold cuts... both meals were prepared for by the US military and were huge hits with the kids
Kids running at the start of dodgeball (during activity time after lunch)
On the last day, in between the quarterfinals and the championship game, we held a penalty kick challenge with myself and another volunteer Jeff serving as goalies... here is my boy Seung Hwan cranking a shot past me...
His boys cheering him on... their team (England) would win
Happy boys (Real Madrid)
More happy kids
Sportsmanship award recipients with their coaches... all four were from my home! Woo hoo!!!
White team... Real Madrid
Blue team... Chelsea
Red team... England... they won the penalty kick challenge so they each got water guns as a reward
Yellow team... Brazil... they won the championship and would get a huge meal at an expensive burger joint along with Smoothie King, shoes, and a soccer ball... all sponsored from different stores and restaurants!
With Larry, who directed the camp for the ministry... great job Larry!
The kids and volunteers... we will update with videos and larger pictures on the ministry website soon...
Driving home afterwards with a sleeping Min Shik
God bless!
